Growing and Inspiring Talent: It’s Tougher at the Top
As part of completing PDI Ninth House’s The PROFILOR®, more than 8,000 leaders across the globe rated the importance of leadership competencies such as building talent and engaging and inspiring others.  They confirmed that these competencies increase in importance as leaders advance to higher levels.

The leaders’ peers, bosses, and subordinates rated their effectiveness at demonstrating these competencies. They noted big differences between leadership levels:  leaders grew less effective as they moved up.

PDI Ninth House’s research reveals a real chasm between people’s expectations for growing and inspiring talent and what leaders are able to do. Organizations might want to think twice about relying so heavily on senior leader to model these competencies as a way to make improvements.
